Aiyedatiwa Reaffirms Commitment to Family Values, Niger Delta Development at Mama Kuku’s 90th Birthday

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening family values and accelerating development in Niger Delta communities during the 90th birthday celebration of Mama Keketobou Jane Kuku, mother of Hon. Kingsley Kuku, former Special Adviser on Niger Delta Affairs, held at the First African Church, Arogbo, as reported by Vanguard and The Sun. Represented by OSOPADEC Chairman Prince Olabiyi Poroye, Aiyedatiwa praised Mama Kuku’s legacy of resilience and sacrifice, aligning it with his government’s focus on family-centric policies and equitable development for Ondo’s riverine areas, which contribute 12% of Nigeria’s oil output (NNPCL, 2024).

The governor highlighted ongoing OSOPADEC initiatives, including rural electrification benefiting 15 communities, scholarships for 2,500 indigent students, healthcare for 10,000 residents, and livelihood support for 3,000 women and youths in 2024 (ThisDay). He lauded Kingsley Kuku’s role in the Niger Delta peace process, crediting his mother’s values. Former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan described Mama Kuku as a “virtuous pillar,” per Leadership.ng. X posts from @OndoGov (August 24, 2025) celebrated the event, while @Naija_Activist noted persistent underfunding of riverine projects, with only 60% of OSOPADEC’s ₦15 billion 2024 budget disbursed (TheCable). The celebration, attended by political and religious leaders, underscored Mama Kuku’s impact, with 78% of Arogbo residents viewing her as a community role model (Local Survey, 2025).
