On Monday, August 25, 2025, the Anambra State Police Command launched an investigation into the disturbing case of a young man, Chigbo (alias Agudo), allegedly chained by his father for five years in Igboukwu, Aguata Local Government Area, as reported by Vanguard and Punch. Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu, commending community youths for exposing the incident, described it as a model of community-police partnership. Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed Chigbo’s rescue and ongoing medical care, with preliminary inquiries underway to hold those responsible accountable (Daily Post).
In a separate operation, police from Isiowulu Division, alongside local vigilantes, arrested 24-year-old Chidi Nwoye, a suspected serial vehicle thief, on August 22, 2025, along Minaj Road, Obosi, while operating a stolen tricycle (Promptnewsonline.com). Items recovered included a Hyundai Tucson (Reg. No. PH 725 AAA), a tricycle (Reg. No. NSH 051 UD), eight mobile phones, four master keys, a battle axe, ATM cards, a vehicle tracking device, an ignition device, and personal items like shoes and an Apple watch (Vanguard). Nwoye confessed to using master keys to steal parked vehicles and tricycles. Investigations continue to recover more stolen items, with the public urged to visit Isiowulu Police Station for identification (Punch). Ikenga confirmed Nwoye will face court upon investigation’s conclusion.
