A group of five armed individuals, suspected to be kidnappers, have abducted the wife and daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman for Patigi Local Government Area in Kwara State. The incident occurred on Sunday night at the chairman’s residence in the Sakpefu area.
Sources familiar with the event said the gunmen scaled the compound’s fence and began shooting indiscriminately to intimidate residents. They then forced their way into a room where they found Hajiya Fatima, the chairman’s wife, and Amina, his daughter, and took them away at gunpoint. The assailants reportedly operated for several minutes before escaping with their victims to an unknown location.
A member of the state APC executive council, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed the abduction, noting that the chairman himself narrowly escaped being kidnapped. The incident is the latest in a series of abductions that have plagued Patigi and other parts of Kwara North in recent months, raising concerns among residents about the escalating insecurity. When contacted, Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, stated he was not yet aware of the incident.
