The National Business and Technical Examinations Board and the National Examinations Council have inaugurated a joint technical committee to harmonise operations and strengthen institutional collaboration in Nigeria’s public examination system.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Uchechukwu Olisah, the Assistant Director Media/Protocol of NABTEB, made available to newsmen today in Benin.
He stated that the decision was reached during a meeting between the registrar of NABTEB, Dr Aminu Mohammed and the registrar of NECO, Prof. Dantani Wushishi at NECO headquarters in Minna.
He explained that both chief executives led their management teams in deliberations, aimed at strengthening examination administration and advancing shared institutional objectives.
He quoted the NABTEB boss as emphasising the importance of synergy among examination bodies, adding that collaboration remained critical to national development.
He said the meeting provided an opportunity to renew and deepen institutional partnership through learning-based engagement.
Mohammed called for broader coordination among examination bodies, including the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS).
He, however, acknowledged their distinct operational mandates.
On his part, Wushishi described the engagement as a major step towards strengthening cooperation between both institutions.
