ADC Chairman David Mark Pledges Youth Inclusion, Rejects Imposition Ahead of 2027

ABUJA – On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Senator David Mark, National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), vowed to reject imposition, special privileges, and unaccountable politics, positioning the party as a principled alternative for Nigeria’s youth and progressives, as stated during the ADC National Youth Wing’s International Youth Day celebration in Abuja, themed “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” per Vanguard and Leadership. Represented by former APC National Vice Chairman (North-West) Salihu Lukman, Mark emphasized internal democracy, transparency, and fairness, promising 35% of leadership roles for women and significant positions for those under 40, addressing Nigeria’s 33.4% youth unemployment rate (NBS, Q2 2025).

ADC National Youth Leader Comrade Balarabe Rufa’i urged youths to demand accountability, criticizing the government’s failure to address insecurity (1,100 weekly fibre cuts, NCC data) and education decline (11 million out-of-school children, UNESCO 2024). He outlined ADC’s plans for job creation, improved education, and community-based security, calling for unity across ethnic lines. Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad and Sir Abubakar Malami, in their addresses, advocated for legal reforms and youth inclusion in governance, urging active participation over passivity. X posts from @ADCNigeria (August 12, 2025) highlighted the event’s focus on youth empowerment, while @Naija_Activist praised Rufa’i’s call for action but questioned ADC’s coalition strength against APC’s dominance, with 70% of defections to APC since 2023 (Premium Times). The event, attended by figures like Dr. Ladan Salihu and Hon. Abdullahi Maibasira, signals ADC’s push to challenge the ruling party in 2027.
