APC Sets N20 Million for FCT Chairmanship Forms, N2.5 Million for Councillorship Ahead of 2026 Area Council Elections

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has announced the cost of nomination forms for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections scheduled for February 21, 2026, with chairmanship forms priced at N20 million and councillorship forms at N2.5 million. In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, by National Organizing Secretary Sulaiman Argungu, the party outlined that chairmanship aspirants must pay N5 million for the Expression of Interest form and N15 million for the Nomination form, while councillorship aspirants will pay N500,000 and N2 million, respectively. Female aspirants and persons with disabilities are exempt from paying for Nomination forms, requiring only the Expression of Interest fees of N5 million for chairmanship and N500,000 for councillorship. Youths aged 25 to 40 will receive a 50 percent discount on Nomination forms after purchasing the Expression of Interest forms.

The APC’s primary election for the FCT Area Council seats is set for June 25, 2025, with the sale of forms running from May 22 to May 28, 2025, and submission of completed forms due by May 29, 2025. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed the election date in January 2025, with voting to occur across 68 constituencies to elect six Area Council chairmen and 62 councillors. The party has ruled out automatic tickets, including for defectors like Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairman Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, emphasizing a competitive process.
