Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has firmly denied rumors suggesting his involvement in a political coalition associated with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, on Sunday, the governor dismissed the speculation as the work of “mischief makers and attention seekers” seeking to create unnecessary political tension.
Governor Idris categorically stated his unwavering commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring, “I will be the last man standing in APC; I can’t and I will never even harbor the thought of leaving my party to join any coalition belonging to Atiku or anybody.” He emphasized that the APC was the platform that propelled him to the governorship, and he remains fully dedicated to the party.
The governor further clarified that his primary focus is on delivering good governance and advancing development across Kebbi State, rather than engaging in political maneuvering. “I refuse to lose focus on good governance in my state; political jobbers should have a rethink because I will not succumb to their imagination,” he asserted.
The statement comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with various alliances and coalitions being speculated. Governor Idris’s strong rebuttal aims to quash any perception of division within the APC in Kebbi State while reinforcing his administration’s commitment to developmental projects.
Political analysts view the governor’s stance as a strategic move to consolidate his position within the ruling party and dispel any doubts about his loyalty. His declaration also serves as a message to detractors that he remains focused on governance rather than partisan distractions.
As the political landscape evolves, Governor Idris’s firm denial underscores his determination to remain a key figure in the APC while prioritizing the progress of Kebbi State.
