Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Senate Office Unsealed Amid Signs of Resolution

On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, the National Assembly unsealed the office of suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP), granting her access to the premises and signaling potential resolution to her six-month suspension, as reported by Vanguard and Punch (Web:0, Web:1). Sergeant at Arms and security personnel carried out the unsealing, ahead of the Senate’s October 7, 2025, resumption, following a leadership meeting where a motion for Akpoti-Uduaghan’s apology is expected, to be moved by Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro (PDP, Benue South) (Web:0, Web:3). The move comes after her July 2025 Federal High Court ruling by Justice Binta Nyako, deeming the suspension excessive and unconstitutional, though the Senate appealed, insisting it stands until the Court of Appeal rules (Web:2, Web:4).

Akpoti-Uduaghan, suspended in March 2025 for protesting her seat reassignment by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, was barred from Senate activities (Web:0). Her lawyer, Michael Numa, SAN, warned the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamorudeen Ogunlana, of contempt proceedings for non-compliance by September 15, 2025 (Web:0, Web:5). Ogunlana responded that he lacks authority to override Senate decisions, as his role is administrative (Web:0, Web:6). X posts from @NatashaAkpoti (September 23, 2025) celebrated the unsealing, while @Naija_Activist noted 65% public support for her recall but 58% concern over Senate bias (Afrobarometer, 2025) (Post:3). The development could restore her representation for Kogi Central’s 1.2 million constituents (Web:1).
