On Thursday, August 21, 2025, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) announced a profit after tax of N185 billion for July 2025, as detailed in its Monthly Report Summary, released Thursday night, per Vanguard and Nairametrics. The report recorded a revenue of N4.4 trillion for the month and disclosed that NNPCL remitted N7.9 trillion to the Federal Government from January to June 2025. The company’s average daily crude oil and condensate production reached 1.7 million barrels, while gas production averaged 7.722 million standard cubic feet per day, aligning with NUPRC’s reported 1.8 million bpd peak in July (ThisDay).
NNPCL highlighted progress on key gas infrastructure projects, with the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipeline at 83% completion, bolstered by additional subcontractors to accelerate mainline works, and the Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) pipeline at 96% completion, with a revised strategy to expedite the River Niger crossing (Punch). The OB3’s 113-kilometer section currently delivers 300 million standard cubic feet of gas daily from AHL, Platform, Chorus, and Xenergi (Energy Times). The financial data, noted as provisional and unaudited, excludes independent operators monitored by NUPRC. X posts from @NNPCLimited (August 22, 2025) celebrated the financial milestone, while @EnergyWatchNG praised the gas projects but urged transparency, citing 43% public distrust in state institutions (Afrobarometer, 2024). The report underscores NNPCL’s role in Nigeria’s energy sector, contributing 68% of federation oil revenue (NEITI, 2024).
