NNPP Katsina Chairman Denies Defection of 34 Local Government Chairmen to ADC

On Monday, July 21, 2025, Alhaji Armaya’u Abdulkadir, Katsina State Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), refuted claims that the party’s 34 local government chairmen defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). In a statement issued in Katsina, Abdulkadir dismissed media and social media reports alleging the defections were facilitated by Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, former Secretary to the Katsina State Government. He clarified that some NNPP chairmen had previously defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the 2023 presidential elections, and it was these individuals who recently moved to the ADC from the APC, not directly from the NNPP. Abdulkadir emphasized that no current NNPP local government chairmen in Katsina State have defected to the ADC or any other party, asserting the party’s intact structure in the state.
