Obidient Movement’s Ezeh Endorses Peter Obi as Top Candidate for 2027 Elections

On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Dr. Emmanuel Ezeh, a prominent figure in the Obidient Movement in South-East Nigeria and a 2023 Labour Party National Assembly candidate, declared Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, as the most qualified leader to unite and govern Nigeria in the 2027 general elections. In a statement in Abakaliki, Ezeh praised Obi’s organic grassroots support, particularly among women and youth, citing his selfless leadership and personal wealth donations for social interventions, as demonstrated during the July 19 Obidient Day of Service, which marked Obi’s 64th birthday with charitable acts across Ebonyi State. Comparing Obi’s potential to former President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 victory, Ezeh urged the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, including figures like Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Mr. Chibuike Amaechi, and Mr. Waziri Tambuwal, to back Obi, emphasizing his “capacity, competence, courage, compassion, credibility, fairness, and equity” as unmatched among pro-poor aspirants.

Ezeh highlighted the ADC coalition’s role in strengthening Obi’s campaign by protecting votes, given the Obidient Movement’s strong voter base and the coalition’s experienced political strategists. He criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for failing to address electoral violence and restore trust in Nigeria’s democracy, warning that any attempt to undermine Obi’s 2027 candidacy would face strong resistance. Ezeh called for electoral reforms, citing Senegal and Ghana’s peaceful transitions as models, and stressed that courts should not decide elections, advocating for reruns in case of disputes. He urged Nigerians to prepare rigorously for 2027, describing it as a critical battle to “steady the ship” and build a new Nigeria, emphasizing vigilance to counter any electoral surprises.
